I cooked for my brother... kind of

I cooked my brother his favorite meal for his birthday… Okay as you can tell from this video my family doesn’t have complete faith in me to cook a delicious meal unsupervised so I recruited my dad to help me out! I think the problem with my cooking abilities is that I always try to make everything healthy, with no real reference of what is actually replaceable in a recipe.

For my brother's birthday, I threw the healthy rule book out the window. I said today, it’s about flavor. *Chefs Kiss* So I recently got turned onto the brand Truff (promo code below) by my sister in law and got hooked on their hot sauce. So when my brother requested a fried chicken sandwich for his birthday, I knew exactly how I was going to elevate this meal. I should note this is 100% not sponsored by Truff but I did get the ENTIRE line from them recently and wanted to challenge myself to use their ingredients to elevate this basic recipe to something exquisite to win my cooking ratings back over from my family!

Here is the recipe breakdown:

Start with chicken thighs - they are boneless/skinless and notoriously juicer than other pieces of chicken. If you really want to get some aggression out, give it a good bashing to make it just a little bit more tender. Then you are going to place the chicken thighs into a plastic bag. In a mixable bowl pour a generous amount of butter milk and an entire bottle of Truff Hott Sauce. You can also toss in some garlic powder and salt at this time if you’re feeling up for it. Let this marinate for at least 4 hours but we did it over night.

Once it’s done marinating. You will create a mixture of mostly flour then add in seasoning. We chose garlic powder, voodoo seasoning, salt and pepper! You will them take the chicken from the marinate and coat it generously in the flour mixture. Lay out your chicken thighs on a pan/plate so they are ready to go into the fryer.

If you are using peanut oil like us, you will want the temperature to be around 350 degrees! We first fried each piece of chicken for 3 minutes and then a second time for 4 minutes. Ensuring it was extra crispy!

Next up we created a sweet and spicy drizzle to go on top of the chicken sammy! We used butter, Truff Oil, a generous amount of the Truff Hot Sauce, then honey to taste! I think this is my favorite kind of cooking.. Also where I end up getting myself in trouble. I love a no recipe-recipe!

For on top of the sandwich itself, we did truff mayo (this is my favorite thing from the entire line up), pickles, and a toasted Dave’s Killer Bread Bun!

I hope you guys enjoyed this video and give it a try at home if you’re looking for a delicious and not so nutritious cheat meal to win your family’s cooking approval from!
